This talented, fast-rising squad, has captured its second MYBL League Championship after an incredible run through the highly competitive combined U15/U16 AAA Division.
In an exciting championship matchup, Rumi Academy took down a formidable Guelph Gryphon Basketball (Team 1 – OBL Division 1) to bring home the title!
Back-to-back success doesn’t happen by chance; it takes character, hard work, commitment, and a true team-first mindset. The future is bright for this outstanding group!

‘Beyond mountains, there are mountains’. At its core, this proverb suggests that: When you overcome one challenge, another one often lies ahead.
But it’s not meant to be discouraging — rather, it’s a reminder of the ongoing nature of effort, learning, and growth. Whether in sports, personal and community development, leadership, or life, we never truly “arrive.” Every peak we reach (or challenge we overcome) reveals new learning, new perspectives and new opportunities to grow.
Our players understand that they are not just athletes — they are integrative leaders who understand that success is about more than just winning games. Each player remains focused, humble and committed to learning toward the betterment of self, others, and the world.

Rumi U15 Boys Vs. Union Elite & Clippers Highlights (Toronto/Durham)
The U15 Rumi Academy and Union Elite built an exciting rivalry throughout the 2026 OBL season.
The two teams split their regular-season meetings in the OBL Division 2 league, with Rumi Academy winning the first matchup and Union Elite taking the second.
When it mattered most, Rumi Academy rose to the occasion, defeating Union Elite in the 2026 OBL Cup Championshipplayoffs.

We are excited to start our 2026-2027 Rumi Academy season with tryouts for boys grades 9/10 (U15/U16) team and Co-ed grades 4/5 (U10/U11) team taking place during the following dates:
Important Note: During the 2026-2027 Season, the Rumi Basketball Academy is fielding only two competitive rep teams – a boys grades 9/10 (born in 2013 & 2014) and co-ed grades 4/5 (born 2016/2017).

Rumi Academy is hosting tryouts during the following dates and location:
- Thursday August 6th 7:00pm-9:30pm – Kingsway College, Oshawa
- Tuesday August 10th 7:00pm-9:30pm – Kingsway College, Oshawa

Rumi U15 Boys Win Silver @ 2026 Barrie Royals Tournament (Barrie, ON)
The Rumi Basketball Academy U15 team competed in the 2026 Barrie Royals tournament, showcasing impressive grit, skill and determination throughout the tournament. After a series of hard-fought matches, they advanced to the finals and secured a well-earned silver medal.
Rumi U15 in Support of Community of Service @ Simcoe Hall Settlement House (Oshawa, ON)
Over the Christmas break, the U15 Rumi basketball team dedicated an entire day to volunteering at the local food bank, where they rolled up their sleeves to help sort donations, organize shelves, and clean the facility. The players worked together with enthusiasm and teamwork, bringing the same energy they show on the court to their community service. Their efforts not only helped support local families in need but also reinforced the importance of giving back. As the legendary Muhammad Ali once said, “Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on Earth,” a message that resonated deeply with the young athletes as they learned the value of generosity and community responsibility.
